Farewell my Sweet Jacki ❤

Last Friday we had to say goodbye to our 12-year old Yorkie, Jacki. That was the hardest day I have ever had and the grief I felt, and continue to feel, is not something I anticipated. I knew that this day would come and that it would be hard, but I had no idea the impact her loss would have on me and my family. Everyone says that they have the best dog, but I know we had the best one. 😊 She had an amazing spirit and could make you feel better in an instant. She was my companion. Everything we did, she was right there by our side. Checking the mail, taking a nap, going for a ride so she could hang her head out of the window, binge watching shows (she would sit in my lap every time), greeting our kids when they came home, letting us know that those pesky Amazon drivers were here (this happened a lot more during 2020!), and then telling us it’s been a long day and it’s time for bed! I know over time this will be easier, but right now, I just want to hold her and have her tell me in her own way that things are going to be just fine. I know one thing—I will forever change the way I respond when someone loses a pet. You did not lose just a pet, you lost a family member and one that has been by your side giving you unconditional love at every moment. So long my sweet girl! ❤

I was waiting for the bees to come back in the backyard when the hummingbird started coming around right as the sun going behind the trees. Not too bad for handheld with my macro lens 😊

Supernatural Powers? 👽

Did you know the Mantis was thought to have special powers? In some early civilizations, people considered praying mantises to have supernatural powers. (The mantis part of the name comes from the Greek for prophet.) I had no idea! Doesn’t surprise me though.
